  • More than 14,000 members in 47 countries.
  • A total of 53 local chapters, 17 student chapters in U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
  • Full time staff of experienced marketing, management and metalcasting professionals.
  • Annual Congress, where over 100 papers and presentations on the latest metalcasting developments are presented each Spring.
  • CASTEXPO, first held in 1897, now held every third year, featuring the latest in supplies, equipment, materials and services for the industry.
  • More than 100 handbooks, textbooks, and reference books published by AFS, the world’s largest publisher of metalcasting related materials.
  • Publishes 100-150 technical papers annually.
  • Over 24,000 foundrymen receive Modern Casting, the official AFS journal.
  • Eleven Technical Divisions Engineering, Aluminum, Brass & Bronze, Molding Methods & Materials, Cast Iron, Pattern, Melting Methods & Materials, Steel, Environmental Control, Investment Casting and Expendable Pattern Casting.
  • AFSoftware Service, a library of computer programs for the foundry, begun in 1983.
    Technical, management and environmental in-plant consulting available using AFS/CMI staff
    Information Retrieval quickly and inexpensively through the R D “Butch’ Peters Memorial Library located at AFS headquarters.
  • Abstracting Service, monthly listing of the latest in published technology through the Peters Memorial Library.
  • Programmed learning courses available on 13 timely subjects.
  • AFS-sponsored fundamental applied research and the support of its 800 person voluntary technical committee organization marks a multi-million dollar Society contribution to the continued advancement of cast metals technology.
